Find a small class size program at Tech's Huntington campus.

At Wilson Tech, students get a head start on their future by learning skills that employers need! Juniors and seniors in the 18 school districts in the townships of Babylon, Smithtown and Huntington can attend Wilson Tech. Students who choose a career and technical education program attend their home school for half a day and are bused to Tech for the other half of the school day. At Wilson Tech you can:

  • get hands-on training
  • gain a skill for the workplace
  • build a foundation for further education
  • gain real work experience
  • prepare for a Regents diploma
  • make friends with similar interests

The choice is yours!

Programs at all four Tech campuses provide you with a foundation for success in the workplace and for post secondary education!

APPLY TECH CREDITS TOWARD YOUR High School DIPLOMA

Students who complete a career and technical education program may receive up to four and a half high school credits for each year completed. Students can earn academic credits in math, science, social studies and English while attending Tech. Other subjects in art, health and physical education are offered as well.

Prepare for Work or College

Tech Builds Success!

Students who complete Tech programs find a variety of options for the future. Work/study experiences frequently lead to permanent employment. Wilson Tech has a job placement office that receives calls daily from employers looking for applicants. This information is always available to our students.

Many students elect to further their education at two and four year colleges or at specialized training programs. More than half of Tech graduates enroll in college or other training programs after high school. You can even earn college credit while you are in high school through the Career Pathways program. Wilson Tech has agreements with numerous colleges where Tech graduates can obtain both advanced standing and scholarships.

Earn a Technical Endorsement (CTE) for Your Regents Diploma

Wilson Tech students can earn a career and technical education (CTE) endorsement on their high school diplomas when they successfully pass a two-year Tech program and pass a nationally recognized certification exam in their chosen field. Tech students must also pass five Regents exams. Each of Tech's eligible programs has been approved by the State Education Department for this CTE endorsement.

General Career and Technical Education

Karen Bowden, Principal

631/754-2900

Students with special needs (ages 16-21) attend Tech programs according to their interests and needs. In addition to mainstream programs, Tech offers programs with fewer students to accommodate those who would benefit from a more individualized pace. Local school districts approve their students to spend one-half day at their home schoool and one-half day at Tech. Tech helps prepare students for transition into mainstream programs (with support), employment and post secondary education.

At the request of the home school district, the Career Scope Assessment Profile would be administered by Wilson Tech to evaluate students' vocational strengths and weaknesses. This information would be used to match the student with an appropriate Tech choice.
